FABRICS
Hand printing this designs when Sir William Morris started out in 1880, MORRIS & CO. delves in to its inexhaustible resource of original patterns created by the master artist himself. Recreating the designs to suit our modern times, these plush fabrics are true masterpieces of luxury and keepers of design history. Morris & Co. fabrics come in a wide choice from woven tapestry and jacquard qualities, printed linens and prints, all-over silk embroideries and classic cotton damasks, through to lightweight pretty leaf trails and semi-plains.

William Morris began designing wallpapers in the 1860s which were hand printed by Jeffrey & Co. in London using wood blocks and mineral based natural pigments. These same designs are produced today by machine, using surface or ‘flexographic’ rollers and modern inks giving the appearance of the block-printed originals. Previously only found on textiles, other designs have been translated into wallpaper, sometimes printed on Gravure machines to replicate the fine tonal textures and ‘watercolour’ effects found in Morris’s fabrics.
